Arriving at the iconic Temple of Speed with a 33-point advantage over third place, Heuzenroeder knew the job was far from done. Two unlucky DNFs in previous rounds had closed the gap, and the pressure was high heading into the most crucial weekend of the year.

From the outset, Pat showed elite pace. In Qualifying 1 he missed pole by an astonishing 0.003 seconds across Monza’s 5.8km layout, before placing P3 in Qualifying 2 – just 0.002 seconds off the front row.

In Race 1, Pat started from P2 and immediately pressured the race leader. With overtaking at Monza notoriously difficult at maximum speed, he crossed the line in second place – a strong result that extended his buffer for the championship runner-up position.

However, Sunday’s opening race delivered another setback. A first-lap racing incident forced Pat into his third DNF in just three rounds, compressing the fight for 2nd in the Championship to within just 14 points across three drivers.

That set the stage for a season-defining final race.

Starting P10 with both title rivals ahead, Pat needed nothing less than P5 to clinch the Vice Championship. A chaotic first lap saw him forced wide, falling to P14. But what followed was one of the standout drives of the 2025 GB3 season.

With fearless commitment through Monza’s fastest corners – including high-risk moves at Lesmo 2 and Ascari – Heuzenroeder carved through the field, setting multiple fastest laps and gaining nine positions to finish P5 and secure the championship runner-up honours.

It marked a remarkable achievement not only for Pat, but also for Xcel Motorsport, a newcomer team in GB3, taking the fight to established championship-winning outfits.

“It was an absolute rollercoaster weekend,” said Heuzenroeder.“Race 2 was tough to take, but I knew I had to deliver in Race 3. The drive back to P5 is one of the most rewarding races of my career. I’m incredibly grateful to my team, my mentor David Brabham, my family and everyone who has supported me this season.”

Heuzenroeder concludes the season Vice Champion, with one win, four podiums, and a growing reputation as one of the fiercest and most composed racers on the grid – a driver with maturity under pressure and the race craft to match.

A rising talent. One to watch.
